Sales Account Manager - On Trade (Bucks, Herts & Beds)

In order to meet our strategic expansion plans, we are seeking to appoint a Sales Account Manager to work in a dynamic and commercial environment covering Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. There may be some business that we can pass onto you, but primarily you will need to identify and seek out profitable sales opportunities and target new accounts within your designated region. The successful applicant will live in or around (and will have extensive knowledge of) their own geographical area.

This position requires the delivery of sales in order to achieve gross profit targets; increase prominence and visibility of key agency wines whilst working towards increasing Berkmann’s profile within the on-trade sector.

We require the following skills:

-WSET qualified, minimum Level 2,

-Extensive sales experience within the ‘on-trade’ industry

-Analytical and numerate with attention to detail,

-The ability to complete a detailed price proposal and write a balanced wine list

-Excellent interpersonal skills,

-Ability to communicate with confidence both internally and externally,

-A passion for our products, our aims and customer service,

-Computer literate, using Word and Excel.

-Experience of working with brand owners and knowledge of strategic brand development would be advantageous.

This is an ambassadorial role, representing Berkmann and our agencies within the U.K. on trade and includes a responsibility for implementing marketing derived brand activity plans.

We offer a very good basic salary with an extremely generous bonus scheme on an increasing scale for OTE, plus; car, pension, phone, laptop, 23 days paid holiday plus bank holidays.

Marketing Manager

Berkmann Wine Cellars is one of the UK’s leading independent wine distributors. Due to strategic expansion plans we are looking to recruit a permanent full-time passionate Marketing Manager to drive and lead the Marketing team, within an exciting yet challenging environment. The role will be based in our Head Office in North London.

Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

- Leading the Marketing department to ensure successful delivery of corporate marketing plans and campaigns

- Providing coaching, mentoring and training for colleagues in order to ensure effective team development

- Building and fostering strong relationships with individual brand owners to drive the strategic direction of our portfolio

- Be fully responsible for our Chilean portfolio; which includes three of Berkmann Wine Cellar’s key agency wines

- Designing, developing and implementing strategic brand activity plans in line with business requirements, budgets and with a view to growing the bottom line

- To continuously assess the effectiveness of marketing and sales activity against objectives, taking corrective action as and when necessary

-Developing successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimum results

- Ensuring that mechanisms are in place to align channel strategies with brand strategies

- To operate in accordance with our ‘vison and values’ at all times, amplifying the impact of Berkmann Wine Cellars in the market

Essential Skills and Experience:

- Experience within the FMCG industry is essential. It is desirable for the candidate to have UK On/Off Trade drinks industry experience, preferably from a wine background or have an interest in wine

- Marketing Management/Senior Brand Management experience and ability to demonstrate the ability to work in line with budgets, interpret a profit and loss sheet and assimilate data quickly

- The ability to implement tactical and strategic marketing initiatives whilst managing multiple projects.

- Practical knowledge and ability to use and interpret Market data (e.g. AC Nielsen data and TGI)

- Hold strong experience of working with brand owners and drive strategic brand development

- Ability to inspire and motivate team members by providing effective coaching, mentoring and training

- Have a hands-on approach with a positive and optimistic attitude

- Hold exceptional communication and numerical skills

- Have a high level of computer literacy

Offer - The appointed candidate will receive a market aligned salary, company pension and 23 days annual leave

Working Pattern - This role is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. But it is expected that the successful candidate will work the hours necessary to fulfil the requirements of the job
