The Drinks Business: Berkmann secures Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis as exclusive UK agency
Chablis producer Jean-Marc Brocard will be distributed exclusively through Berkmann Wine Cellars in the UK.
Following a successful 30-year relationship, the two family businesses have agreed an exclusive deal that will see Berkmann extend its portfolio to feature Jean-Marc Brocard’s organic Chablis selection. Producing high-quality Chablis since 1973, Jean-Marc Brocard expanded into organic farming in the late 90s. The estate now covers 66-hectare of organic and 40ha of biodynamic vineyards in Chablis. Speaking of the appointment, Berkman Wine Cellars’ managing director Rupert Berkmann said: “In a period where the market is consolidating, it’s paramount for us to reinforce our independence and family-owned status. Jean-Marc Brocard is therefore a natural fit, and chimes perfectly with this strategy. As a fellow family business, Brocard shares the same ethos and long-term vision as Berkmann.”
Julien Brocard, who oversees the Jean-Marc Brocard business in Chablis, as well as the winemaking, added: “The UK is one of our biggest markets and we are delighted to strengthen our relationship with one of our long-standing partners. Berkmann represents top wineries from around the world and we are confident that this new exclusive partnership will herald a new dawn for our brand. Focus on quality, family and a genuine wine culture are the values we share with Berkmann Wine Cellars, and we look forward to working together in further developing Jean-Marc Brocard in the UK.”
